A Portable Commercial Building as an Emerging Business Model

How to develop a business model for a product that does not exist and there is no known customer needs. Radio and television sets are the examples of products which did not exist and there were no known customer needs at the time. Consumers from our distant past would have been amazed at the products available today in the market and would have certainly appreciated the Airplanes!

In most cases, an entrepreneur or scientist invented a product or fortunate stroke of serendipity and promoted its usage and created a demand. Subsequently, the same products experienced variations and upgrades emanating additional products and resulting demand.

A portable commercial building fabricated from the shipping containers is such a variation and upgrade of a product to create new market and demand. This requires educating potential customers about the benefits of such a product.

**A shipping container is a container with strength suitable to withstand shipment, storage and handling. Shipping containers range from small to large reusable steel boxes used for intermodal shipments to the ubiquitous corrugated boxes. In the context of international shipping trade, “container” or “shipping container” is virtually synonymous with “(standard) intermodal freight container” designed to be moved from one mode of transport to another without unloading and reloading.
